Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple, built by Raja Marthanda Varma in 1733 A.D. is a fine specimen of South Indian architecture. Lord Vishnu reclines here on Anantha the serpent. The magnificent temple tower rises in seven storyes against the reflecting pool in front.
Priyadarsini Planetarium which is situated in the same campus as the Science and Technology Museum, provides a panoramic experience of the universe with advanced projection technology.

Water Authority campus, located on the highest point of the city above the sea level. There is a well-laid out garden and is one of the eye catching architectural landmarks of Thiruvananthapuram.
Karamana, It is both a pilgrim center and a picnic spot. On the banks of the Karamana river, this spot houses a Bhagavathy temple with a waterfall nearby. A stream with fish that appears to be fed by visitors is another attraction.
Napier Museum, a striking building with unique architectural design. And it also have a splendid collection of natural history specimens which includes valuable pieces of mythology and art.
Kovalam, The internationally renowned beach which is just 16 Kms from Thiruvananthapuram has been a favourite haunt of tourists since 1930's. Kovalam consists of three adjacent crescent beaches. The southern most, known as the Eve's Beach is the most famous.   
Ponmudi, 61 Kms from Thiruvananthapuram. This cool hill station is a trekker's heaven. It is an idyllic hill resort with narrow winding path-ways and cool, green, wooded environs. Ponmudi has a variety of beautiful mountain flowers and small rivulets, springs and a deer park nearby.  
Varkala, a seaside resort which is 40 Kms away from Thiruvananthapuram is also an important Hindu centre of pilgrimage. High cliffs with mineral springs rise majestically above the coast line.

Neyyar Dam: 32 Kms away from Thiruvananthapuram, Neyyar dam is a popular picnic spot which has a watch tower, crocodile farm, lion safari park and a deer park.

Shankhumugham Beach: Just 8 Kms from the city, this is a favourite haunt of sunset watchers.

Veli Tourism Village: 12 kms from Thiruvananthapuram, this picnic spot where the Veli Lake meets the Arabian Sea, offers boating facilities and also has huge sculptures which dot the splendid landscape. 

Kanyakumari: 87 Kms from Thiruvananthapuram, is the southern-most part of India. It's where the Arabian Sea and the Bay Of Bengal meets the Indian Ocean. The Kanyakumari Temple and the Vivekanada Rock are also famous attractions.
